A Thousand Shall Fall

A Thousand Shall Fall  by Susi Hasel Mundy with Maylan Schurch

I could not put this book down once I started reading the inspiring true story of the Hasel family during the horrific years of the Nazi occupation.  The story depicts the courage and determination of Franz Hasel to keep the Sabbath and preserve life while drafted in the German army as well as Helene Hasel's faithfulness and endurance in keeping the Sabbath with her children despite threats and privations.  But most of all, the book reveals the love and power of God, who provided countless miracles to keep the family from harm. The book is appropriately entitled after Psalm 91:7 'A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee" (KJV).  It reminded me of the Providence of God and the promises of blessings He gives to all those who trust in Him.  When I finished reading the book, I was inspired to be more faithful in following His commandments and in surrendering all my fears into His capable Hands.  You can read a chapter of the book by clicking on the picture.
