East Coast Campmeeting 2011
We have some exciting news for all of you. ECKCM is entering into a new era with a bright future and endless possibilities, and we want you on board!
In previous years, individual churches were given the responsibility for hosting and coordinating camp meeting. Specifically for the English side of camp meeting, an individual coordinator had been given the responsibility of overseeing the logistics of running this monumental task. For many years, Pastor Jonathan Park was the unofficial coordinator for the English camp meeting. In 2004, he announced that it would be his final year and beginning in 2005, there has been a "hot-potato" game of sorts with different coordinators filling the role as they were asked by the host church for that year.
Here is a list of the past coordinators since the departure of Jonathan Park after the 2004 camp meeting:
2005: Jimmy Kim
2006: Jimmy Kim & Phillip Lee
2007: M.C. Shin
2008: M.C. Shin
2009: John Choe
2010: Robin Song
As many of you have experienced over the years, the emphasis and direction of ECKCM is heavily influenced by the coordinator. With this constant change of coordinators, however, the new coordinator ends up spending most of their time learning the logistics of how to run a camp meeting rather than being able to invest their time in making improvements. In order to be really effective at creating growth and change that is meaningful and impactful, the guiding influence for camp meeting has to be in place for a significant period of time (5+ years minimum). One or two years is not enough time to make meaningful and lasting change and does not promote an atmosphere of growth. Rather, it promotes an atmosphere of maintaining the status quo.
We are pleased to announce that all of this is about to change.
A group of dedicated and passionate pastors have come together in one accord to dedicate themselves to seeing the potential that lies in our annual camp meeting come to fruition. With a unified body to steer the ship for an extended period of time, it is our belief that God can and will work mightily in our midst to start a Spirit-led movement amongst the Korean SDA Churches of the East Coast that will help usher in the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and prepare a people that truly love Him with all their hearts, minds, and souls; a people that can barely contain the gratitude and love for their Savior and must share that love with a dying world.
We've all seen the state of the current church and the continual loss of our precious family as they go off to college and then off into the world. It is our belief that we, as a unified body of Christ, can reverse that trend. It is our belief that we, as a unified body of Christ, can in fact, bring about revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit onto our churches and the world. And it is our belief that God will use ECKCM as a stepping stone toward that reality.
Sound a bit ambitious? What may seem impossible with man, is possible with God. And with the faith of a mustard seed, we can move mountains through God's might and power.
We would like to cordially invite you to join us on this journey.
You will no longer see the passing of the torch from one general coordinator to another year after year. The East Coast Korean SDA Church English Pastors have come together to coordinate ECKCM as one body for the foreseeable future.
If you would like to make a multi-year commitment (2+ years) to ECKCM as a department coordinator and be one of the pioneers of this exciting Spirit-led endeavor, we invite you to email (info.eckcm@gmail.com) with the following information:
Please respond quickly as we must make preparations for ECKCM '11 immediately.

Sincerely,
Jimmy Kim & Robin Song,
ECKCM Planning Committee Co-Chairs
