Re:act! ECKCM 2015

As I am writing this article, it is almost June and the plans for ECKCM 2015 are well underway. I am very excited to share with everyone what’s in store for this year’s camp meeting.

What’s new?
The theme for this year’s camp meeting is Re:act – “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. “ Phillippians 4:13. The Admin team (the A-team) and other co-laborers have been strengthened by Christ to start new projects that will minister to different people with various needs.

A) Mentorship – The A-team noticed were amazed by the treasure trove of spiritual, professional, ministerial and personal experience among the attendees last year.  We thought that it would be great to connect these experienced people to those who are seeking guidance and mentoring.

B) Non-married ministry  (Uni+k) – The English Compass is sponsoring a workshop for those who are single, widowed and divorced.  Pastor Keith Gray and Charmaine “Molly” Gray will head out the workshop that gives attendees opportunity to share and support each other.

C) Korean cultural lessons – A coordinator from one of the departments brought up the fact that we should foster and promote our Korean culture.  Elder Henry Seo will head up explorations of many aspects of Korean culture - Korean food, games, history, and even Korean names.

D) Afterglow – Having a yummy snack at night is a staple of ECKCM but what is different for this year is that the English ministry division will oversee it after many years of having it being run by hosting churches.  What that means is that we will be able to use the proceeds from the profits to help fund the many arms of the English ministry departments. So please support the Afterglow by volunteering to help cook, serve, and clean.  And of course, come eat the delicious food that will be served at Afterglow.

E) Intergroup field day – If you have wondered what a contest between the Young Adults, Collegiates, High School and Earliteens would look on the field, look no further.  On Wednesday afternoon, you will witness an epic showdown – battle of the ages.

Speakers
I am sure that you will be happy to hear that you will be seeing some familiar faces from previous camp meetings - Henry Johnson, Peter Gregory, Shiprah Fepulea’i,  Keith and Charmaine “Molly” Gray. But we also have new speakers that are new to ECKCM, Janet Page and Chester Clarke III who will speak for the English Adults.

New additions for the A-team family
I am so happy to announce that we have added two beautiful ladies to the A-team family this year.  Ruby Nah got married to Pastor Kevin Kim this past April and Pastor Tony Sandoval and Elena Sandoval welcomed baby Victoria to their family this year.

I am so looking forward to seeing everyone at ECKCM!  Please pray with me that God will continue to bless and guide the plans for ECKCM 2015. See you in August!

Jane Chung is a happy homemaker, mother of four and has been married to her husband, Eric for 27 long years.  She attends Westchester Korean SDA Church.  This is her third year serving on the A-team and absolutely loves working with her partners, Elena Sandoval, and the three Pastors Kim- Jimmy, Jason and Kevin.  Her hobbies include cooking (when the mood strikes her), organizing, crafting, shopping at the Dollar Tree, and Facebook-ing (she’s on it so much that it’s become a verb in her life).
