Our church is in Ellicott City, where Korean town is located.  The Korean population is the second largest group in our city next to Caucasian, so when I go into some of the Korean restaurants and supermarkets in town, I often think, “Am I in Korea?”  We rent the church building from another SDA congregation, so our worship service starts at 2pm.  It sounds a little late at first, but it works great − especially for our English group.  No need to rush, no need to skip breakfast.  You can enjoy the Sabbath morning and come to church with a sense of peace.  There are over 100 members in the Korean group and about 30 members in the English group.  English members are from elementary school to collegiate; a well mixed.

One thing about my youth group, that I’m proud of, is their strong bond with each other.  Most of them grew up with each other in the church, so they know each other well and they care for one another.  Sometimes their relationship is so strong that I wonder, “How are they going to live without each other?”  I think that’s a privilege.  Not many Christians are fortunate enough to find their close friend in their church, to whom they can share their happiness as well as their struggles. 

The downside is that they can become so comfortable within themselves that they may pay little attention to visitors, or feel comfortable doing outreach or evangelism.  Not that they don’t, but they can be.  But no worries, I’ll make sure they give a warm welcome when you visit . I came here less than 2 months ago as a new youth pastor, but I’ve already met reliable leaders, encouraging members, and lovable kids.  So come and visit our church!
