GYC - Day 1

Over 2000 young-at-heart flocked to Seattle to attend the 11th annual Generation of Youth for Christ. Registration was until 5PM, when the Evening Plenary was given by GYC President Justin McNeilus and Keynote service, given by Pastor Israel Ramos. The Keynote service set the tone of the conference, exciting the attendees for the coming weekend, convicting us to answer the call of Christ.

The Korean community made it's presence felt, with attendees from all over the US, from TN to CA. Some were already Adventist, while others were recent converts or just learning about Adventism. When asked, why they were attending, they all had different reasons:

"Experience a wonderful time with friends and family, I wanted to meet a lof of new people."
Kenneth Choi, 18
LA Central Korean SDA

"I'm here to hear God's message. I grew up with a cousin who was SDA and I've been coming to this church for 10 years or so. I want to know what God wants me to do with my life. I'm thinking about what I want to do after college, what my parents want me to do and what God wants me to do- see if there's a connection between the three."
Brian Choi, 19
North Seattle SDA Church

"I'm here because it's the beginning of the year and I want to be closer to God. It'll be a good start of a year. I like David Assherick, so I'm looking forward to hearing him."
Michelle Kim
Lawrenceberg SDA Church
