ECKCM: Day 4
The Young Adults group is led by Carol Jo, Isabella Kim and David Kang. The smallest group in the English Ministry, they make up for it with a lot of enthusiasm. Their small number provides more intimacy and closeness that may have been lost in a larger crowd. Meeting for the 1st time on Sunday, they quickly bonded and accepted members who are new to their Christian faith, as well non-Koreans or 1st time campers.
The morning message was delivered by Pastor Stirling Barry. He covered the topic of grace vs. works; of how God’s love and mercy saves us, and not our works. Yet, His grace does not dismiss the Holy Spirit working in us to draw us to God and emulating Christ. He held a short Q & A session covering a variety of topics, including Pentecost and food.
Afterwards, a heated game of Bible Taboo commenced and one team quickly dominated. After lunch, they brainstormed with the Outreach coordinator, Joanna Huh, to prepare for Friday’s 5K fundraiser. Everyone participated enthusiastically with suggestions, contributing their resources and participation.
The evening message was given by Pastor Rafael Morales regarding the Christian race. Esther Lee from Atlanta, gave a personal testimony of living her faith, by keeping the Sabbath. In prayer, she surrendered her situation to God and He provided a job that allowed her to keep the Sabbath and earn more than her previous job. Pastor Rafael then shared his story about becoming ill and his anger toward God, after he had surrendered his life to God: how could God have allowed it?! Paul’s testimony in 2 Corinthians 12:7 encouraged Pastor Rafael who eventually accepted his prognosis and in faith, found healing and is now in remission.
