ECKCM Day 5

The theme of REmain was driven home with tonight’s message from Dr. Hyveth Williams for the adults. She broke down the message of 1 Peter 1:1-12 and taught us to see Peter’s message of encouragement.

Peter was speaking to Christians who had to flee their home to foreign lands, adjusting to new language and cultures, and reassuring them their suffering was temporary. A reminder that their treasure was in heaven--unspoiled, uncorroded.

What is the loudest testimony of your faith, a revealing of your spiritual life, except when you are on the floor writhing in pain? Whether it’s your health, job or personal matter, your reaction to circumstances will reveal whether you’ve placed your faith in God or in secular beliefs. Do you call to God--or cry against God?

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:6-9)

This theme was also revisited again and again in the various skits performed in the 2013 Showcase. The day ended with preformances from each group, including the Korean group of youths, Han Samo. Starting the program with the Cradle Roll group and ending with a rousing performance by the Juniors - each student and teacher heartily testified, God is with us - we must only REmain in Him.
