FamBam 2013 was Fambamulous

by Jane Chung

Fambam 2013 was a truly blessed event! A gathering of churches in the New York and New Jersey area, there were great programs for Children, Teens, and Adults. The speaker for the adults was Dr. David Kim from Georgia, a lay minister and practicing medical doctor. Not only was his personal testimony inspirational, but his teaching of the Storying Technique was both motivating and moving. By Storying, he turned a seemingly uninteresting passage of Joshua into a vital message of God's unconditional love. The beauty of this method is that it is accessible to the lay person and one does not need particular seminary training. The afternoon session was a time for the attendees to practice the method. At first, hesitant, we were so thrilled to be a part of a team that facilitates unearthing precious truths in Bible passages. Our church, the Westchester Korean, plan to use the Storying method in its English services starting next week!

The pastors worked tirelessly to put this together, and it was wonderful to see how teamwork made this event possible. The hard work of the Pastors Stephen Lee, Young Kyo Suh, Isaac Lee, Ron Hepburn, Chris Choi, Roy Kim and Tony & Elena Sandovals, helped smooth over the various bumps that came up during the weekend.

During Fambam, it was great to get to know and reacquaint myself with my brothers and sisters in Christ in the New York/New Jersey area. My seven year old son, Matthew loved Fambam and was sad to leave. Thanks to all the pastors for organizing the event, and especially to Pastor Isaac Lee and the young adult volunteers, for making a great children's program - so I could enjoy the Adults program without child supervision.
