WCKCM Day 5

English Ministry Adults (EMA) is adults that are English Speaking Koreans who came to camp meeting and said, “We’re not Young Adults anymore.” Most of them are in their mid-30s or older, married and/or parents.

Every year, more and more EMA are coming because their children are starting to appreciate camp meeting and want to participate. They get their own wing so their children can continue in fellowship as well as help each other with child care. Their meeting room is next to the VBS so they can drop off and pick up their kids and have enough time for their own meetings.

Throughout the week, various topics were lead by different experts: financial responsibility, parenting, marital relationships, evangelizing, etc. Ken Pak led the discussion on evangelizing. What does it mean to evangelize? Why should we evangelize? Who should evangelize?

The EMA hosted a Watermelon Feed, while the English Ministry groups, formed 7 groups of basketball teams. Various churches came prepared as a team, while others were formed at camp, including an all-girls team and a team of Pastors and EMA. Pastor Jon Henderson came up from Oakland to play on the Pastors team, but unfortunately, they were beaten out of contention. The Final Game will be played on Saturday night between Living Vine Fellowship from Seattle and Mountain View Church, our hosts.

The evening service was lead by Taj Pacleb, using Jeremiah’s visit to a potter as an illustration to remind us that God only makes perfect vessels. His three points to remember are:
1) Growth takes time (Christian maturity)
2) Struggle is a sign of life (if you’re not struggling, you’re dead)
3) If matters not how many times you fall, it only matters that you get up again (Most of us become overwhelmed with guilt and shame and eventually can’t believe that God would continue to forgive us.)

EMA seems to be mostly married couples, but all are welcomed whether you’re single, divorced or widow, whether younger or older. EMA is in need of a retreat and spiritual revival as much as the children, maybe even more. Our intellectual knowledge prohibits us from realizing our need of God and   experiencing an encounter with Him. Next year, they hope for a larger turn-out, so that an entire floor would be used by EMA.
