Sinatra, Minelli, Bennet, and even Gaga, all agree.  “If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere. It's up to you, New York, New York.”  People from all over the world come to make it here in the Big Apple.  But in the struggle to make it, its easy to become overwhelmed by the pace, people, and pressures.  That’s why Westchester Adventist Church exists: to point people to our Maker, Redeemer, and ReCreator.  And the best way we know how to lift up Jesus is through food, fellowship, and faith.

We are Westchester EM (English Ministry) and Christ has called us to minister to those around us with the good news.  But we’re not alone in mission.  We're blessed with five other KM churches in the area who get together for events like Sports Day, Christmas Concert, and FAMBAM (mini-campmeeting).

We get hungry doing all these things, so we use Yelp to help us find the perfect slice of pizza, skewer of souvlaki, boat of sushi, cut of kalbi, or other exotic dishes.  But we also enjoy cooking food at home.  And when all those calories have to be burned off, we bowl, hoop, ping, and volley.  And to ensure we also exercise our brains, we play a game that everyone should try: Blokus.

The past year has seen us camping in a cabin at Kaaterskill Falls, experiencing Joseph, Hershey Park and Longwood Gardens in PA, screaming at Six Flags, hiking Bear Mountain, camping in tents at Hammonasset Beach, and seeing Oh Joo Yeon at Lincoln Center.

Westchester also has a handful of Bible studies going on during the week.  Collegiate students and women have their own online Skype sessions.  Young adults and families meet at a home in Riverdale, and others join via Skype.  Graduate students and young professionals meet at an office in Manhattan.  And on Fridays, we meet at the church building to celebrate the start of Sabbath, with vespers.

While we have our own Saturday morning 10am bible study and 11am service, we also join the KM every third Saturday for a united service.  And after every potluck lunch, we have men’s and women’s small groups.  We recently started a monthly children’s afternoon.  We had our first 'Kids in the Kitchen' cooking class, 'Kids in the Park' crafts, and are planning an upcoming 'Kids in the Neighborhood' activity.  On most Saturday evenings, we gather for vespers, dinner, and game night.  While we’ve volunteered with local churches on outreach events, we’re working on establishing our own long-term outreach ministry that serves our neighbors with Jesus’ love.

The Divine Family has blessed our Westchester family with unconditional, perfect, and incarnational love, so we believe that They will help us share that gospel with our fellow New Yorkers.

You guys will aways have a special place in our hearts. We miss you. Continue to spread the gospel, XO!
